Uvita, Learn to Surf Surrounded by Pure Paradise

We might be biased, but we think everyone should experience surf in Uvita. The main beach, Marino Ballena National Park, is one fo the most beautiful beaches in the country, yet it provides perfect, consistent beginner and intermediate waves to ride in as the beauty washes over you. Lush green mountains beneath clear blue sky are the backdrop to the best surf experience of your life. Rarely, whales can be seen from the shore. So as you ride a wave in from the same sea those <> sing, toward the jungle’s hum and sight and sounds of climbing monkeys, tropical birds, and the sprinkling of beachgoers.  You’ll be here and you’ll not want to leave. The town brings so much more than just epic surf. From Michelin star chef restaurants, 5-star retreats, spas, markets, sports, and a bohemian () We hope, too, that you’ll keep surfing… 🙂

Uvita as a Town

Uvita is the next Santa Teresa, but in a good way. Despite the zero-crowded surfable beaches, there’s a vibe. You’ll feel it when you’re here, everyone does, but you’ll not be able to explain it. Just south of Dominical and on the road south towards Corcadova National Park, where 3% of the world's biodiversity with 13 distinct ecosystems rests within a land mass the size of Denver, this jewel hides. Given the unassuming nature of the town’s main road, you’d be forgiven for not noticing the lineup-free surf, sushi bars, health stores, spas and retreats, waterfalls, and breathtaking beaches. But stay and watch the town unravel and you’ll be rewarded. From the waterfalls, horseback riding, yoga centers, wellness retreats, spas, gyms and martial arts, restaurants and bars. There’s something to entertain everyone. That’s not including the snorkeling, fishing, swimming, mountain biking, kayaking, scuba. Surf, of course, should be a the top of the list, if not only for the fact you’ll never find less crowds, safer warmer, waters, or get to surf as scarlet macaws fly ahead, surrounded by the living sound of the jungle. There’s a reason why 40% of tourists who arrive in Costa Rica have visited more than once, the average being seven times. Uvita is that place that’s far from everything, withholds the charm, greets warmly, and provides the pure nature backdrop to a special stay, or life.   Here’s a selection of what you can do in Uvita, Costa Rica:
